“As a liedaccompanist, you are actually the painter of the story, the illustrator of the poem. And in following the singer, the storyteller of the song, you have to be flexible and supple. When accompanying on a Steinway, the instrument allows me to paint and express myself exactly as I intend to. When playing in Trio Suleika, my pianotrio, we perform from Mozart and Beethoven to Shostakovich and today's composers. Some people prefer playing on authentic instruments when they play Mozart or Beethoven. Personally, I always prefer Steinway. As, though every Steinway is different, it always gives you the opportunity to enjoy being a pianist.” October 2, 2007
