LANG LANG AWARDED 1ST STEINWAY & SONS 150TH ANNIVERSARY GOLD MEDALLION

On March 1, 2003, Steinway & Sons awarded its first 150th Anniversary gold medallion to pianist, Lang Lang, following his rousing performance of Rachmaninoff's Concerto #2 in C minor with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Lang Lang dedicated his final encore, Stars and Stripes Forever, to the "wonderful" Steinway piano on this special occasion. The Orchestra also acknowledged Steinway as the "piano selected exclusively by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra."

Steinway & Sons will be awarding gold medallions to other artists during the course of it's yearlong 150th Anniversary celebration. The prized first gold medallion was presented to Lang Lang by Frank Mazurco, Executive Vice President of Steinway & Sons.
