- First Art Case Steinway Grand Piano (#1225)
By Timothy Philbrick
Model B
6'10.5"
The lively Beaux Art style of the early 20th century is dramatically expressed in Mr. Philbrick's design. The piano's rich color palette is created by the complimentary use of rare copper-red Cuban mahogany, found on the island of St. Croix, with silken blond Satinwood on the fallboard, desk, inner rim and lid, and signature inlays. Many unique design details contribute to the exquisite beauty of St. Croix, including pewter-finished hardware and pedals, four gracefully curved legs, and teal Italian calfskin on the piano chair and music desk.

Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island
In In his turn-of-the-century home on Narragansett Bay, Rhode Island, Timothy Philbrick is surrounded by furniture and handtools once used by his forebears. Mr. Philbrick draws on this rich tradition to continually advance his craft. Tim's pieces are known for their sense of proportion, the luxury of their design and a superior level of craftsmanship. A graduate of the Program in Artistry at Boston University, Mr. Philbrick's work has been exhibited at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C. and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. At Steinway & Sons, we are proud to include his magnificent piano in our new Art Case Collection.
