Quality, value make Boston grands the
CHOICE FOR COUNCIL ROCK MIDDLE SCHOOLS

Kevin Heinselman

newtown, pa – Following two multi-mil lion dollar construction projects, Newtown and Holland middle schools were equipped with Boston grand pianos that speak to the next generation of students in the Council Rock School District.

The old Newtown building was replaced with a $53 million state-of-theart facility while Holland underwent a $41 million facelift that added new spaces for the music department. After choosing eight Boston UP-118S uprights to support general music studies at its elementary schools, Council Rock selected a seven-foot-half-inch Boston GP-215 Performance Edition II grand foreach middle school.

The decision came down to Steinway-designed quality, sound and value, according to Keith Rudat, Music Curriculum Coordinator. “The selection process involved support from the school board, central office administration, music faculty and community,” he says. “We are thrilled to have these new pianos and remain confident they will provide a wonderful experience for our students in the decades to come.”

The National Association of Music Merchants named Council Rock one of the “Best Communities for Music Education” for eight consecutive years. Rudat says he takes great satisfaction in watching students evolve from their first performances in elementary school to their final performances in high school. “It is wonderful when our alums come back and let our faculty know how much their participation in music has helped them personally and professionally.”

Jacobs Music Company continues to work closely with the district. “Kevin Heinselman and Bob Rinaldi demonstrate a genuine interest in the success of our program and were extremely helpful throughout the entire process,” says Rudat. “From our first contact to delivery of our new pianos, they went above and beyond what anyone would expect. It was a pleasure working with them.”

Heinselman is gratified that Newtown/Holland reached the same conclusion about Boston pianos as many outstanding schools in Greater Philadelphia: “Council Rock has achieved much by way on national recognition, and we look forward to continue to support their exceptional accomplishments in the arts.”
