“Steinway is synonymous with soul and depth. Only Steinway has a sound as broad as an orchestra, yet when needed, intimate enough for the smallest of gatherings.”
Competing locally, regionally and internationally, Young Steinway Artist Arthur Wang has garnered numerous awards. He was recently awarded second prize, and was the youngest finalist at the 2019 Young Concert Artists International Auditions. In the summer of 2020, he was the third grand prize winner in the professional division of the Chicago International Music Competition. Other awards include prizes at the Hilton Head International Piano Competition for Young Artists, the Enschede International Piano Competition for Young Musicians, and the Midwest International Piano Competition.
Arthur has performed in prestigious venues such as Merkin Concert Hall, Lincoln Center, the Wilmersberg Zaal, Gallagher Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, Queen Elizabeth Theater, Chan Centre for the Performing Arts, and the Vancouver Playhouse. He was named in CBC Music’s 2017 edition list of “30 hot Canadian classical musicians under 30.” Arthur has worked with Robert McDonald, Jeremy Denk, Ilana Vered, Christopher Elton, Jeffrey Kahane, Matti Raekallio, John Perry, and Conor Hanick in masterclasses.
An avid ensemble musician, Arthur frequently performs in piano quintets, quartets, trios, and especially in piano duo with his sister, Angeni Wang. Their piano duo won first place in the 2014 North West International Piano Ensemble Competition.
Arthur started his piano studies at the age of six. In 2012, when he was 11, he earned his Associate Diploma (A.R.C.T.) from the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto after completing all the practical and theoretical requirements. Prior to starting at Juilliard, Arthur also studied privately with renowned pianists Sasha Starcevich and Ilana Vered. He currently studies with Jerome Lowenthal.
