musical Highlights From The Spirio Catalog

The music of Russia has captivated generations of listeners with its boldness, beauty and exotic flair, and this month Steinway & Sons Spirio presents a tour through the best Russia has to offer.

Russian virtuoso Olga Kern performs a dynamic playlist of Russian classics. Prokofiev’s dramatic Romeo and Juliet Suite is beautifully rendered by Stanislav Khristenko.  Also featured are Steinway Immortal performances from legendary pianist-composer Sergei Rachmaninov and twentieth-century titan Vladimir Horowitz, whose 1986 homecoming concert at the Moscow Conservatory after 61 years of self-imposed exile brought the audience to tears — namely, with his rendition of Schumann’s Träumerei in an emotional encore.

What’s New

The Russian Theme in the Spirio app features a diverse array of works to browse through and enjoy. Newly included in the catalog are four of Nicolai Medtner’s “Forgotten Melodies” — engaging virtuosic works performed by Sean Chen. Russian pianist Alexandre Moutouzkine adds four new tracks from his exploration of the music of Cuba. Steinway label artist Shen Lu performs Maurice Ravel’s complete Miroirs.

The new Steinway & Sons Spirio is the world's finest high resolution player piano. A masterpiece of artistry and engineering in your home, Spirio enables you to enjoy performances captured by great pianists — played with such nuance, power and passion that it is utterly indistinguishable from a live performance.
