Rae Pung

Singaporean pianist Rae Pung has studied with prominent pedagogues such as Ingrid Fliter, Boris Petrushansky, Stanislav Ioudenitch, Andrzej Jasinski, and Piotr Paleczny.

Starting her musical studies at the age of four under Thomas Hecht and later Albert Tiu, Rae was accepted into many prestigious institutions, ultimately pursuing her studies at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, Fondazione Accademia Internazionale di Imola, and The Purcell School.

In 2024, Rae released her debut album Piano Sonatas, as well as several EPs that were featured on Spotify’s editorial playlist Classical New Releases. Her discography also includes Wisteria Lights (2026).

Driven by a collaborative spirit, she has worked with orchestras worldwide, including the Philharmonic Orchestra at the University of Alicante, Dohnányi Symphony Orchestra Budafok, Orchestra Filharmonica della Calabria, Danube Symphony Orchestra, Toruń Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of Music Makers, Orquesta de Cámera, The Academic Symphony Orchestra of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, and the Oberlin Contemporary Ensemble, among others.

Her passion for sharing music has led to features in global media outlets such as The Straits Times, The Business Times, The Vale Magazine, Bresciaoggi, Todo Alicante, Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Telewizja Polska, Lianhe Zaobao, Musik Magazine, Teen World of Arts, Interlude.hk, The Star, Ipoh Echo, Ritmo Magazine, Modern Classical Music Magazine, and Murcia Today, among others. Her works have reached audiences worldwide through radio stations and broadcast platforms including Symphony 92.4FM, Radio Armazém, Planet Network, Berlin On Air, Tuweb TV, and Radio Criativa 10.

Rae has won prizes in numerous competitions and awards, including the Nuova Coppa Pianisti Competition, Sydney Eisteddfod Kawai Senior Piano Scholarship, Val Tidone Piano Competition, V International Subcarpathian Chopin Piano Competition, VIII Budapest International Chopin Competition, XIII Volodymyr Krainev Piano Competition, XII International Piano Competition for Young Pianists in Memory of Vladimir Horowitz, Imola City Award, XXI International Frederick Chopin Piano Competition for Children and Youth, Jeune Chopin International Piano Competition, Young Pianist of the North Upon Tyne Competition, Piano Island Competition, and Hong Kong International Piano Open Competition.

Rae served as a Secondary Lessons Instructor of Piano at Oberlin Conservatory and taught for several years at The Ethan Project, a family-run non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about autism through music education.

She collaborated with Dr. Andrea McAlister, Professor of Piano Pedagogy, to teach APST-111 Piano Class to undergraduate students from various instrumental majors.

Rae is the Artistic Director of the Virtù d’Arte International Piano Competition and Festival. She has also studied conducting under Marco Boni, Conductor of the Concertgebouw Chamber Orchestra in Amsterdam.
