Retail Sales & Management

Position Summary:

This role is responsible for providing operational, administrative and event support assistance for assigned East Coast showrooms and store managers.

Onsite/Offsite Location Responsibilities:

• Provide administrative support to the following showrooms – SPG, NJ; SPG, Miami; Steinway & Sons, Greenwich and SPG, Long Island, Certified Pre-Owned at the factory.

• Handle all sales documents, posting and payment accounting.

• Maintains regular communications with NY office to ensure proper reporting deadlines are met.

• Maintains accurate records of vendor invoices, purchase order requests, and inventory files.

• Maintains supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies and placing and orders, and verifying receipt of supply orders.

• Five-day work week with at least one weekend day.

Onsite Locations:

• Support and facilitate communication and logistics with freight/movers in connection with events, customer deliveries and shipping/receiving store inventory.

• Supports customer interaction as necessary.

• Contributes to team effort by helping out on projects as needed.

• Provide operational support for special events when needed.

• As directed by the store manager, manage and maintain showroom to ensure a clean and upscale image as well as a positive store experience.

Qualifications, education and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in a music related field (or related experience)

• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with a positive attitude and maintain a professional demeanor.

• Superior planning, and organizational skills

• Strong knowledge of MS Word, Outlook and Excel

• Highly motivated, results-oriented self-starter with excellent problem-solving skills.

• Candidates must be able to lift 20-50 lbs. and be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.

Position Summary:

This role will manage institutional sales at higher education and secondary institutions in the Midwest region (including universities, colleges, Private Schools, K-12 Public Schools, and Houses of Worship). This role will also manage the Chicago Concerts and Artists division, acting as a liaison and ambassador of Steinway with Concert artists and venues.

Main Responsibilities:

• Build and cultivate strong long-term relationships with higher education and secondary institutions

• Make public presentations to educational individuals and groups with professional sales recommendations

• Conduct inventory assessment to support schools in managing their piano inventory

• Be knowledgeable of and act on potential sales opportunities that are occurring in the market (i.e. building of a new concert hall or music school, granting of new endowment from music program patron…)

• Assist and advise in fund-raising efforts for institutions requiring this aid

• Achieve personal sales goals and support Northeast team in achieving region goals

• Oversee the C&A piano fleet, including rental bookings, delivery arrangements, maintenance of the C&A pianos, and related invoicing.

• Attend concerts, galas, and other artist-related events to represent Steinway and build relationships

Position Qualifications:

• Bachelors’ degree in a music-related field, or related experience in luxury sales or the arts

• 2+ years of work experience in customer service or sales and proven track record of success

• Strong verbal and written communication, planning, creative problem-solving and organizational skills

• Technology experience, including MS Office, Teams, CRM systems, Slack, Zoom, and more

• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines as required.

• Ability to interact with customers, vendors, administrators, concert artists, and educators.

• Strong, engaging executive presence and a passion for higher education ideal

• This position requires some local travel; candidate must have valid driver’s license.

This is a commission-based sales role, with a base salary of $40,000 and uncapped commission earnings potential upwards of $100,000. Position Summary:

Steinway & Sons is currently seeking an experienced Retail Sales Representative, with a passion for luxury and a love of the arts, for Steinway Hall, our flagship showroom in Manhattan.

The right candidate has a proven track record in a proactive approach to sales, with past experience in business development, lead generating activities and generating sales prospects. The candidate must have an outgoing and engaging personality who can engage and build relationships with clients on many different levels. While the ability to play piano is not a requirement for the job, it is highly preferred; musical and tonal understanding is required as our clients often seek guidance and recommendations during instrument selections. In addition to focusing on showroom sales, a large part of this job will involve outreach and business development.

Main Responsibilities:

• Achieve personal sales goals and support store in achieving goals

• Develop sales strategy and forecasts for customer/client base

• Develop and cultivate customer leads and relationships

• Implement a sales referral outreach program for key influencers (i.e. piano technicians, real estate agents, designers, piano teachers, etc.)

• Coordinate all piano technical needs after sale follow up (tuning, etc.) and in store as needed

• Use the CRM system to manage and follow up with leads

• Support all in store and regional promotional events (generating and cultivating sales)

• Resolve customer issues in a timely manner

Qualifications, education and experience:

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree and experience in sales or customer service

• Min. 2 year experience within luxury/professional sales in a commission based environment

• Music background required, piano preferred

• Outstanding business development and sales management skills

• Superior communication, planning, and organizational skills

• Basic knowledge of MS Word, Outlook and Excel

• Highly motivated, results-oriented self-starter with excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work independently and drive new business

• Note: Candidates must be able to lift 20-50 lbs. and be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time

This is a commission-based sales role with average annualized earnings of $150,000-200,000 for successful employees, with uncapped earnings potential. Hired employees will receive a semi-monthly draw, sales commission for units sold and other performance-based bonuses and are eligible to participate in robust benefits package on first day including medical, dental, vision, FSAs, generous 401k contribution, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave, professional development, and more.
