Classically trained musician, Animenz won several competitions as a young pianist before starting his musical studies at the Hochschule für Musik and Theater Rostock. Though he has made a series of concerto appearances, the main thrust of his work is in recording and performing the music of anime. The initial success of his youtube release, a cover of Butterfly from Digimon which garnered over 1 million views, sparked a surge in the popularity of his page Animenz Piano Sheets.

Some of Animenz' earliest and fondest musical memories date back to the theme songs and dramatic scores underlining animated film and television. He was drawn to the dynamic story-telling of this music, which continues to register a deep sense of nostalgia for him. Today Animenz arranges anime theme songs for solo piano to stunning success, often melding themes with elements of stylistically classical pianism. He regularly shares insight on his arrangement techniques, which has inspired a growing fan base of young musicians and anime fans alike, to learn this beloved music.

Animenz is a Steinway Artist.
