Steinway & Sons Announces Upstate Pianos as Exclusive Capital Region Dealer Under Local Ownership

ASTORIA, NY (August 31, 2026) — Following nearly two decades of leading operations at the Latham showroom of Artist Pianos, Paul Jennings has officially acquired the business, rebranding and launching as Upstate Pianos. Steinway & Sons has appointed the new company as the exclusive authorized Steinway dealer for the Greater Capital Region.

The acquisition secures a strong future for the dealership under dedicated local ownership. Upstate Pianos will continue to provide sales, service, and support for the full Steinway family of instruments — including handcrafted Steinway & Sons grand and upright pianos, as well as Steinway-designed Boston and Essex models.

Known for offering informative, consultative, no-pressure sales experiences, Jennings has built widespread trust across the Capital Region. In addition to individual families, the dealership has long championed area piano teachers and higher education — most notably helping Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) earn its prestigious All-Steinway Institution designation. Moving forward, Upstate Pianos will expand this commitment through a new K-12 initiative tailored to school music educators and their students.

“In our industry, it is the greatest honor to be appointed as an Authorized Steinway dealer,” said Paul Jennings, Owner of Upstate Pianos. “Our company was locally run and now it is proudly locally owned – ensuring the Capital Region will continue to have direct access to the world’s finest pianos.”

“Paul and his team bring deep community ties, exceptional expertise, and an uncompromising commitment to client care,” said Gavin English, President of Steinway & Sons. “We look forward to this new partnership with an old friend.”

Upstate Pianos will celebrate its new ownership and renewed Steinway partnership with a special event later this year at its showroom located at 664 New Loudon Road, Suite 2, Latham NY, 12110. Watch www.upstatepianos.com for updates.
