Timeless Partnership

Carnegie Hall and Steinway & Sons have been partners for 135 years. Since the Hall’s opening in 1891 when a Steinway graced the stage at its very first performances, the two institutions have been intertwined. Generations of Steinway artists have helped define Carnegie Hall’s legacy as a preeminent destination for the world’s greatest pianists. In honor of this shared history, Steinway & Sons has collaborated with the Hall to create the Carnegie Hall Limited Edition — a unique piano that embodies the values of quality, artistic excellence, and innovation that unite our two institutions.

Inspired design

Inspired by the architectural grandeur of Carnegie Hall, the instrument features exquisite custom detailing that pays tribute to the concert hall. Gilded artwork, adorning both sides of the piano’s top and inner lid, reflects the intricate design of the Hall’s Dress Circle. The music desk panel is inspired by the sweeping curves of its proscenium arch, a motif that is further reflected in the elegant lines of the piano bench.
