Springtime has always been a favorite musical inspiration and this month we have updated our playlists to welcome a refreshing season. In fact, much of the new music we are releasing this month feels like springtime.

One of the great jazz pianists of our time, Bill Charlap visited Steinway Hall recently and performed a set that really showcases his polished style and deep connection to the music. And much of the set certainly suits the season, with tunes that include “Spring is Here,” “Blue Skies,” “Isn’t it a Lovely Day” and “Easter Parade.” Most of these are also available as Spirio Sync videos.

This year marks a major anniversary for an especially influential composer of the 20th century, Maurice Ravel. He wrote a limited number of works for piano – all of them repertoire staples – and most of them available on Spirio. “Pavane pour une infante défunte” is one of his earliest works and one of the most famous. “Le Tombeau de Couperin” and “Valses nobles et sentimentales” are extremely popular as well and are also often heard in Ravel’s own orchestral arrangements. And two of his most famous orchestral works, “La Valse” and “Boléro” become virtuoso showstoppers as piano arrangements.

This month we again highlight the music of Mozart with a set of works you are unlikely to have heard performed on solo piano. Antonio Pompa-Baldi performs his brilliant “Allegro Assai,” based on Busoni's arrangement of Mozart's Piano Concerto, K 459: 3rd movement. He follows this with Logan Skelton’s arrangement and completion of an unfinished “Baroque Suite.” Our playlist finishes with two rarely heard sets of Variations with Simon Mulligan, and a solo arrangement of the Adagio from the A major Concerto from Congyu Wang.
