Spirio Spotlight

Jason Moran’s Duke Ellington, The 2025 Cliburn Winner, Steinway Immortal Irving Berlin, and Live Spiriocasts

“Ellington in Focus” is Jason Moran’s brilliant tribute to one of America’s greatest composers. Most recently performed at the Apollo Theater in New York, it was also captured on Spirio, and this month we are thrilled to present a set of tracks along with a series of SpirioSync videos from that memorable event. Also highlighting Ellington’s long-time collaboration with Billy Strayhorn, the videos include stunning imagery from the photographer Gordon Parks.

One of the most important piano competitions in America is The Cliburn, which takes place in Fort Worth Texas every four years. This year’s gold medal winner Aristo Sham made his first public appearance after the competition at the Aspen Music Festival. That performance was also captured on Spirio, and we are very pleased to present the artistry of this fine young pianist for Spirio owners this month.

Everyone knows that Irving Berlin was one of America’s greatest songwriters, but he was also a Steinway Artist. This month we salute his legacy with a selection of some of our favorites recorded for Spirio, including “Blue Skies,” “Cheek to Cheek,” “All Alone,” “Change Partners,” and many others.
