Position Summary: 

This role is responsible for but not limited to planning, designing and validating manufacturing processes, according to established engineering specifications.

Main Responsibilities:

• Support the lean-oriented Continuous Improvement Program at Steinway. This includes initiating and implementing methods changes and process improvements to reduce cycle times and cost while maintaining/improving quality. 

• Work with factory supervisors to keep production flowing and troubleshooting problems in the factory.

• Develop time standards and make recommendations for process improvement. Support the implementation of the standard cost for fabricated items in the factory. 

• Develop and maintain workstations and plant layouts.

• Support current Manufacturing system (MRP) by updating process routings and material usages. Create manufacturing reports to monitor the factory activities.

• Develop and maintain operation descriptions, job descriptions and procedure manuals. Maintain and improve documentation for new and existing methods and procedures. 

• Due to changing requirements, the duties and responsibilities of the position may change over time. 

Requirements

• BS degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering required and 1+ years of equivalent work experience in a manufacturing environment.

• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. 

• Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

• Ability to multi-task and prioritize.

• Critical thinking skills and strong initiative to suggest and implement manufacturing changes/improvements. 

• Working knowledge of an industry standard MRP/ERP system.

• Familiar with the development of standard cost, cost benefit and break-even analysis.

• Must have experience in technical writing, generating flow diagrams, developing operation descriptions and developing procedures.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, MS Project, Visio, and Visual Basic.

• Must have working knowledge of Auto CAD.

The estimated annualized base salary range for this role is $70,000-$80,000. Compensation will vary based on skills and experience. Position Summary: 

Steinway & Sons is seeking an experienced Supervisor for our Maintenance Department at our factory location. This role is responsible for day-to-day supervision of union maintenance personnel, ensuring safe, reliable operation of production machinery and facility systems. This role is hands-on, highly visible on the production floor, and critical to maintaining uptime, safety, and regulatory compliance in a high-profile automated manufacturing environment.

Main Responsibilities: 

• Oversee upkeep and maintenance needs of the office and factory space

• Supervise maintenance activities supporting automated production equipment, CNC machinery, robotics, dust collection, and finishing operations

• Act as first responder to equipment breakdowns; troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, PLC, and robotic issues

• Create and implement preventative maintenance schedules for machinery and equipment. Designate work assignments to internal maintenance and external contractors and ensure jobs are completed to high standards and that all equipment and tools are well maintained to meet production needs.

• Proactively seeks out waste of resources and initiates actions to improve methods and reduce costs.

• Assign daily work and emergency repairs based off facilities needs 

• Ensures that health and safety policies are complied with, through thorough safety trainings for all employees and conducting site safety assessments to identify all safety hazards.

• Monitor equipment and parts inventory, working with vendors to manage orders, pricing, and services.

• Ensures involvement of the Maintenance Department to support ongoing capital projects.

• Track expenses and oversee the budget for maintenance. 

• Deliver strong operational performance by ensuring compliance with regulatory agency standards and programs (local, city, and state). Maintains a variety of manual and electronic files related to facilities inspections and compliance reporting.

• Assists in the selection of new hires as well as on going coaching, development, and discipline of current union maintenance staff. 

Requirements

Qualifications, education and experience:

• At least 5 years of industrial maintenance experience and at least 2 years of supervisory experience

• Able to analyze, plan and solve problems

• Able to read prints and drawings and have solid math and mechanical aptitude

• Familiar with CMMS systems, Robotics ( Fanuc / ABB ) and PLC’s ( Allen Bradley / Siemens )

• Able to communicate effectively with diverse groups

• Must have good working knowledge of OSHA regulations and practices

• Must have broad experience and familiarity with building systems (HVAC, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic/pneumatic, fire safety)

• Must have or be able to acquire required certificates of fitness from FDNY to maintain the plant

• Must be able to maintain all permits to operate equipment and air permits with all government agencies (DEP, DEC, EPA)

The estimated annualized base salary range for this role is $80,000-$95,000. Compensation will vary based on skills and experience. This role also offers re-location assistance if applicable. Position Summary: 

This role is responsible for but not limited to the planning and scheduling of standard and special piano production through the factory, conducting analyses to inform key stakeholders and optimize production deliveries. 

Main Responsibilities:

• Maintain and update production schedules throughout factory, with emphasis on end of line scheduling. 

• Provide meaningful analysis via dashboards and reports to production team to aid in successfully meeting scheduling goals. 

• Coordinate with key stakeholders to ensure an accurate and attainable production schedule.

• Coordinate special pianos’ flow and lead times through factory while monitoring bottlenecks. 

• Work with factory supervisors to keep production flowing and troubleshooting problems in the factory.

• Interface with current Manufacturing system (MRP) by updating production information and scheduling.

• Monitor inventory by SKU, performing analysis to guide production decisions and prevent overproduction or shortages.

Requirements

Qualifications, education and experience:

• College degree; in applicable field a plus.

• 2+ years of scheduling experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

• Strong organizational skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills. 

• Strong Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups, sumifs, countifs, filtering) 

• Ability to manipulate data in Excel and create useful reports.

• Working knowledge of an industry standard MRP/ERP systems.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel)

Position Summary: 

To maintain factory equipment and machinery based on input from department supervisors, technicians, engineers, and maintenance managers. This includes installing and maintain standard and custom equipment and machines as required to specification.

Job Elements or Tasks:

• Perform PLC implementation and programming

• Perform regularly scheduled backups of all PLC programs

• Create and back-up all ladder logic diagrams and drawings required for production equipment

• Maintain Electro-Pneumatic controls, fluid power transmissions, and hydraulics

• Ensure work is in compliance with all OSHA and NEC regulatory policies and procedures

• Specify and identify materials and other items required to perform the job

• Complete jobs within a specified time frame · Assist in project management

• Maintain work area to ensure it is safe, clean, and efficient · Maintain spare parts inventory in main location and satellites

• Participates in cross-training efforts

• Keep accurate records of all jobs worked

• Must be available for emergency callouts 24/7

• Perform other maintenance duties and activities as required

• Perform all daily maintenance functions and 5S requirements (i.e. clean and sweep area)

• Enter data in Upkeep and Synerion, and close work orders as required

• Perform other functions in the department as necessary

Requirements

• A high level of engineering principles theory and knowledge, equivalent to a 4-year technical college education. Additionally, 7 to 10 years of related experience are required.

• Experience working with PLCs

• Ability to read, interpret, and modify schematics and ladder logic diagrams.

• Broad judgment, initiative, and ingenuity with a moderate degree of physical demand when performing the job.

• Perform work in physically demanding conditions with periods of heavy lifting greater than 50 lbs.

• Ability to work in conditions that include exposure to various types of elements such as cold, heat, noise, dust, oil, cleaners, etc

The estimated annualized base salary range for this role is $33 - $38 an hour. Compensation will vary based on skills and experience.
